this full length record with eight tracks have been recorded/mixed by Thomas Kempf (ZANN, PETE THE PIRATE SQUID) and mastered by Jason Sanderson (ROLO TOMASSI, LAVOTCHKIN). As you may notice, the early days', heavily Mid-90's Screamo influenced sound, that helped Yfere to release on renowned labels Ape Must Not Kill Ape and Denovali, has evolved into a more specific, black metal-ish, gritty and hyperactive hardcore noise. Thematically Zirkel (german for 'cycle') deals with the ubiquity of cycles, which, in the continuous mist of change, are opened, explored, closed and rediscovered constantly. The songs reflect on how cycles interweave and construct complex relationships, which dominate our thoughts and actions, how they self-reflexively enlarge and consolidate life, the mind, the world and our existence within and our view on it.

Meine Fresse, was für ein Hammer ist bitte die neue TOUNDRA 2xLP?! gerade nach ihrem erstes Meisterwerk waren wir schon hin und weg. aber das übertrifft alles ! Vergleiche stinken und sind immer maßlos übertrieben, doch auch wenn TOUNDRA vereinzelt langsame Songs einfliessen lassen, teilweise auch mit Cello und Klavier, so wird auch wieder das Gaspedal durchgetreten und es klingt so, als würden KYUSS und RUSSIAN CIRCLES zu einer genialen Band verschmelzen, ohne wie die meisten anderen Bands ohne rock stundenlang auf faden Riffs rumzudaddeln. Mal wieder eine instrumentale Band über die keiner redet, aber die locker fast alles an ähnlicher Mucke lockerst und jederzeit an die Wand spielt. Danke nach Madrid.


Damn,what a blast! the upcoming TOUNDRA 2lp rocks! after their glorious debut lp right now we are very impressed. Hate people comparing bands to other as they are always lying and exaggerating, but even if TOUNDRA are slowing down sometimes, they are kicking ass like a perfect new formed band outta the ashes of KYUSS and RUSSIAN CIRCLES and this without rocking the same boring riffs for hours and hours. Another band nobody is talking about, which is destroying almost every other band playing similar shit now and forever. A huge thank you goes out to our friends from Madrid.

GERMAN:
So, hier kommt mal was anderes. Wir haben nach längerem hin und her mal ein Projekt in Angriff genommen, zu dem uns einige andere coole Label mit netten Clubs wie z.B. Art Of The Underground inspiriert haben. Es wird vier Singles (pro Monat eine), sozusagen im Abo, geben. Die Auflage wird bei pro Band 350 Kopien plus ca. 50, die es nur bei der jeweiligen Band auf Shows geben wird, liegen.
Jeweils vier Single Cover ergeben zusammengefügt ein Bild. Jede Scheibe kommt in anderer Farbe. Jede Single wird ein hübsches Textblatt einerseits und ein Interview von uns mit der Band andererseits beinhalten. Die jeweilige vierte Single hat nochmal eine CD-R mit allen Songs der vier Singles. Zudem wird es noch kleine Extras geben.
Hach, und was soll der Scheiss nun kosten? 20,- EURO inkl. Porto für natürlich vier Singles, wenn Ihr in Deutschland lebt. Falls ihr irgendwo in Europa oder sonst wo auf der Welt lebt, bleibt der Preis der gleiche. Ihr bekommt dann die Singles nicht in vier Etapen einmal im Monat, sondern dann alle Singles auf einmal am Ende.
Start wird der Herbst 2009 sein. Und endlich können die vier hier den Auftakt geben.:

SHOKEI - nicht mehr ganz so neu, auch nicht für uns,ha ha. Gibt immer noch geilen vertrackten Stoff von den drei Psychopathen aus Bad Bocklet. Inspiriert wurden die Jungs sicher von Bands wie Unwound, Shellac, Shotmaker und Off Minor - aber kommen selbstbewußt in einem eigenen Stil rüber.

PLANKS - schon neuer, aber auch nicht für Narshardaa repräsentieren die Piraten den typischen alten Narshardaa Sound. heftiger, schwerer und düsterer apokalyptischer hardcore wie ne Mischung aus HHIG, Coliseum, Old Man Gloom.

NOW DENIAL - so wie mensch in den letzten Jahren selten auf ne Show fahren konnte, ohne dass sie irgendwann dabei waren, so sind sie nun auch beim Single Club dabei. Freut uns ganz besonders, denn sie bieten geilen rockigen hardcore/punk wie er besser und von netteren Typen mit smarteren Texten kaum produziert werden kann. Fettoletto.

IDLE HANDS - kommt selten vor, dass ne nigalnagelneue Band uns beide hier umhaut. Geschehen bei den Jungs aus Münster hier. Leute von Press Gang und den Missing Shadows mit super geilem abwechselungsreichen Punk. Zwischen alten Göttern wie Buzzcocks,Jawbreaker und ner modernen Kante. Jederzeit unvorhersehbar und einfach gut.Punkt.

08.01.2009 - OFF MINOR review

OFF MINOR -some blood LP (narshardaa, paramnesia, purepainsugar) 2008

Have to admit that I have been a sucker for Off Minor ever since the splendid split with I Am The Resurrection and they are in fact one of the few bands from this era I still revisit every now and then. I guess most readers here are already familiar with this band, have seen them live and own at least one of their records and already knows if they want this or not, making this a pretty pointless review.


Anyway, this is the fourth full-length by this trio and they do not stray far from the formula that I've come to love so much. They have added some speed and furiousness to some of their songs (one of which clocks in at a mere 0:43), but the jazz guitar and rumbling bass are never far away. It just got more 'core and less 'mo.


Few bands have gone down this path and been successful. The Mock Heroic came pretty close, but where they became sterile sounding, Off Minor adds another element of nerve and presence. Even the long and quite monotone last song, Practice Absence, is lifted by these elements.
A song which also features guest vocals by Jess Kamen (1905) and that I've heard fans put down as lame, but then again, a friend of mine who can't stand the jazziness said 'how can this be Off Minor? This is good!!'

The sound on the record itself is superior to their previous records as well. It sounds BIIIIGG and suits them well.


The only negative I can say about this is: too short!!

Nice dark and heavy apocalypstic hc/punk which reminds us of old Narshardaa releases like Arsen and Angstzustand includes modern HC like, Old Man Gloom, Coliseum or Isis meets old hc like His Hero Is Gone or Union of Uranus. There are tons of bands playing a similar style today, but for us Planks are one of the very very very few that matter.

Record Information:
- 100 copies on green vinyl
- 400 copies on black vinyl
- mastered by the amazing JAMES PLOTKIN (Khanate/ Mastering for Isis, B.SON, Omega Massif etc.)
- Full Colour and Heavy Jacket & heavy Insert
